Galena reading retreat – October 31st to November 2nd, 2025
This particular retreat will lean towards “spooky” for our guests, since it takes place over Halloween. This fall retreat will be an enjoyable blend of macabre themes, amusement, and relaxation. Where better to be chilled than the historic, and allegedly paranormal, location of Galena, IL?! Group activities and events are still in-progress, but we KNOW it’s going to be fun!

Purchase one of these rooms for the weekend. The rooms include all of the retreat goodies and activities for the weekend. If you want to share with someone else you can set that up ahead of time and choose the option for 2 Guests, which will cover both guests retreat items and activities.
Room One
Located in the front of the house, Room 1 is one of our medium-sized accommodations. It is flooded with light and is very airy. With a queen-size bed, a loveseat for two, individually controlled heat and A/C, and a private bathroom with a stand-up shower with sink in the bedroom portion, this room accommodates up to 2 persons.

Price for 2 people staying in the room is $800 (or $400 per person)
Room Two
Our second largest guestroom, bright and sunny with a slide-out twin-size sofa bed and a queen-size bed, this room is perfect for two friends traveling together. Additional amenities include individually controlled heat and A/C, and private bath with a tub/shower combo and a vintage ceramic sink. Accommodates up to 2 persons.

Room Three
Room 3 is a medium-sized, quiet room with a queen-size bed in the original part of the house built in 1845 with original wide-plank pine floors and angled ceilings. Don’t let the photos fool you – you won’t hit your head by the bed where the ceiling is lowest. You’re sleeping there, not jumping on the bed…hopefully! Additional features include a private bath with claw-foot tub/shower combination, and individually controlled heat and A/C. Accommodates up to 2 persons.

Room Four
The smallest of our guest rooms with views of our lawn and gardens, Room 4 features a queen-size bed with a beautiful carved headboard, individually controlled heat and A/C, and private bath with stand-up shower. Accommodates up to 2 persons.

Room Five
The largest in the house, this room has a queen-size bed and a sitting area with a loveseat in a bay window at the front of the house with views of our gardens. Additional in-room amenities include individually controlled heat and A/C, a large private bath with original claw foot tub/shower combination and a pedestal sink. This room was the Master Suite during the time that the McClellans owned the home in the 1860s. Accommodates up to 2 persons.

A Weekend Pass gets you all of the retreat goodies, but doesn’t include the stay at the B&B.

Interested in the retreat, but don’t want to (or can’t) stay at the B&B? This option is for you!
The Weekend Pass includes all of the retreat items (gift tote, 1 group dinner, snack bar, and 1 group activity), as well as the opportunity to read at the B&B with the overnight participants – weekend pass holders cannot sleep at the B&B. If Weekend Pass attendees need help locating lodging, please email Monica for assistance; she will try to help find lodging options for you. Please note that pass holders would still be responsible for reserving/purchasing lodging separately from the weekend pass.
